Rotary Hearing
Health Care Project
Rotarians,
Marke Hambley, President and CEO of Island Hearing
and Dr. Irwin Stewart, ear surgeon founded the Rotary Hearing
Health Care Project of Zimbabwe/Uganda as a result of their
strong commitment to improve hearing health care through local
and international hearing health care projects.
The
Rotary Hearing Health Care Project of district 5020 and 5040 was
established in 1994 to respond to the needs of deaf children in
Zimbabwe. The project became national, and the recipient of a Rotary
grant in 1997. It has since expanded to include the children of
Uganda, and to assist other countries that have no hearing aids
for their deaf and hard of hearing children and adults.
In
addition to hearing aids, the following is a list of supplies and
equipment that are solicited by the Rotary volunteer team working
with the Rotary Hearing Health Care Project: batteries, audiometers,
tympanometers, used computers, computer software and printers, operating
microscopes, otological instruments, general ENT instruments and
typewriters.
Donate
your used hearing aids. The hearing aids you donate will be restored
and provided to needy children who suffer from hearing loss. Making
a donation is easy; contact us for details about forwarding your
gift of sound.
United
Way
Each year Island Hearing and its staff contribute to the community through
contributions to the United Way.
Christmas
Bureau
Island Hearing staff contribute to a needy family at Christmas time each
year through direct donations of cash, food and clothing. In addition,
the staff cash donations are doubled through an Island Hearing
corporate gift.
