About Island Hearing
In 1978, Marke Hambley, current Island Hearing President and CEO, founded Island Acoustics in Victoria and Duncan, B.C.
Over a quarter century later, Island Hearing has grown to become one of Canada’s largest networks of Registered Audiologists and professional Hearing Instrument Practitioners with over 75 locations across the country; more than 50 of those located within BC alone.
The company provides customers with a full spectrum of hearing-health assessment and solutions consisting of state-of-the-art hearing aids and assistive listening devices. Each clinic is able to provide the most complete range of testing and follow-up care including hearing aid fitting, ongoing servicing and even cleaning.
Island Hearing is as committed to prevention as to treatment and cure. Each year our Industrial Hearing Department educates more than 16,000 Vancouver Island employers and workers on ways to reduce workplace hearing loss.
Our place in the community.
Island Hearing is an active supporter of many worthwhile community initiatives, providing both funding as well as volunteer support for the Victoria Symphony, United Way, Greater Victoria Hospital Foundation, Rotary International, and the Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre, to name a few. A lifetime active humanitarian, Marke Hambley helped co-found the Rotary Hearing Health Care Project of Zimbabwe/Uganda. To assist this worthwhile project, all Island Hearing locations accept used hearing aids which are then repaired and restored and given to disadvantaged hearing-impaired children in developing countries.
